Getting the obvious out of the way

Perhaps you’re asking yourself, “Why would I want to take life coaching sessions from an English-speaking man, in the Netherlands?”

For the past 10 years, I’ve been genuinely invested in understanding how people connect, not just in theory, but in practice. I’ve sat in on court mediations as a volunteer, led classroom sessions on building healthier relationships, and held many house gatherings along the way. What I’ve learned comes as much from lived experience as it does from anything academic.

And as an outsider here in the Netherlands? I don’t carry the cultural assumptions that come from calling this place home. When we talk, I’m genuinely starting from YOU! What you’re dealing with, what you want to work on, and where you want to go. No judgements, no shortcuts, no presumptions.

What kind of coaching can you expect?

As your friendship coach, I will work with you until you feel comfortable and confident finding and maintaining relationships. Together we can explore barriers you feel hold you back from making stronger connections and having tough conversations. A topic we could focus on is your confidence, assertiveness, or community ties. We’ll do this by setting goals you can achieve, until you feel you can navigate these relationships how you’d like.

As your loneliness coach, we’ll certainly touch on the points above, but we’ll include a more introspective focus. I’ll help you answer questions like, “Do I feel satisfied with my life?”, “What is my purpose?”, and “What factors are contributing to these feelings of loneliness?”

Education and Training

Prior to working as a life coach, I spent 4 years at Utah Valley University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Peace and Justice in 2021. After that, I spent 2 years working with The Refuge Utah, a nonprofit that works with victims and survivors of sexual assault. There, I spent large parts of my day working with therapists and other social work professionals to provide the best services possible.

Most recently, while living in Minnesota, I continued my work in social services for the past 3 years, in a variety of positions ranging from education and prevention work to legal support. Here, I learned much of my goal setting and active listening skills.
